Why use a Relocation Agent?

As someone who has moved from the UK and Interstate the benefits of using a relocation agent has been invaluable. Our move from the UK was to give our young family lifestyle and opportunities that we thought we could not get in the UK. The relocation agent we used in Melbourne was with us for a week, she organised for us to view properties, schools, areas that we had no knowledge of and generally drove us around so we could get a good idea of what was on offer. She helped organise our daughter to start school within a week of arriving and our son into Kindy within 2 weeks. I would not have even known where to start with any of it. 

Our next move was to Adelaide and we feel this was harder than moving from the UK. All the reasons for moving to Australia we had in Melbourne but a promotion for my husband meant we were on the move after 6 years. Our relocation agent helped us secure a rental property before we had even left Melbourne, by organising a reference for our dog (who knew you needed such a thing), hijacking the real estate agent so no other parties could discuss the property with them and having all the documents to hand in order to secure it there and then. She also spent a day showing us around the suburbs and coffee shops and also had weekly catch ups in Adelaide’s Central Markets for all her previous clients. This was a great introduction into Adelaide and helped me enormously. 

Our next move to Brisbane came 5 years later with another promotion. We were on a very tight schedule as we had a family holiday booked and my hubby would be moving the week after we came back. Our relocation agent spent a day with me showing around the areas that I had highlighted and organised for me to view 3 properties within my price bracket to give me an idea of what was available, and what we could get for our money. We spent the day driving around the different suburbs, looking at houses, checking out local cafes and she even drove me through the city. I had previous knowledge of Brisbane having been on holiday but the difference in looking to live and being on holiday was huge. We managed to secure a property to purchase and had everything ready to go when we arrived. No rental was a bonus of that move.
